Newsroom

Editorial standards & ethics

How we report, attribute, correct, and keep advertising separate from news judgment.

Our commitment

Saginaw Front Page practices accurate, fair, and attributed local journalism. We seek primary sources, public records, and on-the-record statements whenever possible. We do not invent facts, fabricate quotes, or knowingly publish falsehoods.

Accuracy & verification

  • Key facts are checked against documents, officials, or named sources.
  • Names, titles, dates, and locations are verified before publication when practical.
  • Headlines and excerpts must match the reported facts.
  • Photos and video are captioned and credited; we do not present staged or AI-generated news imagery as real events.

Fairness & right of reply

People and organizations criticized in a story should have a fair chance to respond when time and safety allow. We distinguish news from opinion and label commentary clearly when we publish it.

Sourcing & anonymity

We prefer on-the-record sources. Anonymous sources are used only when the information is newsworthy, the source is credible, and naming them would create undue risk — and only with editorial approval. We do not grant anonymity to attack others without independent corroboration.

Bylines & aggregation

Original desk reporting carries a journalist byline when available. Headlines drawn from partner or regional feeds are attributed to the originating outlet so readers know the source.

Conflicts of interest

Journalists and editors should disclose conflicts that could reasonably affect coverage and recuse themselves when appropriate. We do not accept gifts or favors that could compromise independence.

Advertising & news firewall

Advertising, sponsorships, and paid directory/showcase products do not control news coverage. Sponsored content and house promotions are labeled. Newsroom staff are not paid to alter stories for advertisers.

Business inquiries: Advertising.

Corrections

When we make a factual error, we correct it promptly and transparently. See our corrections policy. Request a correction via Contact or admin@saginawfrontpage.news.

Public records & open meetings

We use Michigan’s Open Meetings Act and Freedom of Information Act as tools of public interest reporting. We identify ourselves as press when seeking credentials or media access.
